The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports Strong March 2002 Sales

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2002--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TJX) today reported March 2002 sales results. Sales for the five-week period ended April 6, 2002 were $1,059 million, up 19% over $890 million achieved during the comparable five-week period ended April 7, 2001. For the nine weeks ended April 6, 2002, sales reached $1,811 million, an 18% increase over last year's $1,537 million. Consolidated comparable store sales for the five-week period ended April 6, 2002 increased 10% over last year. For the nine-week year-to-date period, consolidated comparable store sales increased 9% over last year.
