The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports Strong January 2001 Sales

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2001--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX) today reported January 2001 sales results. Sales for the four week period ended January 27, 2001 were $528 million, up 12% over $472 million achieved during the four week period ended January 29, 2000. For the 52 weeks ended January 27, 2001, sales reached $9,580 million, an increase of 9% over last year's $8,795 million. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four week period ended January 27, 2001 were up 4% over last year. For the 52 week year-to-date period, consolidated comparable store sales increased 2% over last year. For the thirteen week fourth quarter, consolidated comparable store sales increased 2%.
