The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports February 2000 Sales

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--March 2, 2000--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX) today reported February 2000 sales results. Sales for the four week period ended February 26, 2000 were $581 million, up 11% over $523 million achieved during the four week period ended February 27, 1999. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four week period ended February 26, 2000 increased 4% over last year.

Bernard Cammarata, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc. stated, "We are pleased that our sales for the month of February exceeded our objectives at each of our divisions, especially since our February performance last year was very strong. Additionally, inventories are in great shape as we move into the spring season with fresh and exciting merchandise at great values."
