“We believe there are tremendous opportunities for growth throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly with continued infrastructure development, proximity to northern development in the eastern Arctic, and the inflow of international investment into natural resource development,” says Phil Noble, Executive Partner and CEO, Grant Thornton LLP. “Our firm-wide focus is on unlocking the potential for growth, and that means both helping our clients and leading by example with our own firm. As part of establishing our long-term vision for growth in Newfoundland and Labrador, we also recognize that privately-held businesses in Gander and Happy Valley-Goose Bay have increasingly complex needs. The area has numerous natural resources projects that align well with Grant Thornton’s existing strengths in servicing the mining and energy sector.”
Walters Hoffe Chartered Accountants has been serving businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1970, with offices in Gander and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The firm is led by three partners—Donna Rideout, Donald Farrell and Gary Parsons—and employs 13 staff. The firm’s focus has largely been on assurance services for small businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies and tax services for small businesses and individuals.
“We are very excited to be joining with Grant Thornton,” says Donna Rideout, Partner, Walters Hoffe. “As we’ve grown, we’ve always recognized that our clients want a variety of specialty advisory services, timely delivery and local presence. By joining forces with Grant Thornton, we can continue to deliver exceptional customer service to our existing and future clients while at the same time increasing our service offerings to help our clients grow.”
“We have tremendous confidence in the economy throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly in relation to privately-held businesses. We see this confidence first-hand through the growth of our clients. We are proud to be able to service Gander and Happy Valley-Goose Bay with our expanded accounting, income tax and advisory services” adds Steve Power, Managing Partner, Newfoundland and Labrador, Grant Thornton LLP. “By adding the talented professionals from Walters Hoffe to our firm, we have greatly expanded our footprint to serve the dynamic Newfoundland and Labrador business community.”
