SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER), a world leader in high efficiency, low-cost test, announced that Hisem Co. Ltd., a new subcontract test house in Kyunggi-Do, Korea, has installed 15 Magnum SSV test systems. This installation gives Hisem 4,800 test sites for high-density, NAND-Flash integrated circuits. This capacity enhancement project was conceived and implemented in an unprecedented 90-day program.
“Hisem’s selection validates Magnum’s ability to provide a sustainable cost advantage for volume production test”
Hisem Co. Ltd., established in July 2007, from investments by approximately 30 companies in the semiconductor industry, provides backend processing for semiconductor manufacturers. Hisem gives worldwide IC manufacturers a variable-cost alternative for outsourcing test and other production processes. With this sizeable installation of Magnum test systems, Hisem provides its customers with the capacity required to take advantage of favorable market dynamics.
Upon establishing the company, Hisem qualified, approved, and placed the 15-system order with Nextest. Within 60 days of placing the initial order, all systems were installed and performing production test of high-density NAND-Flash devices. Each Magnum provides Hisem with test capacity of 320 NAND Flash parts in parallel on a single test head.
“Hisem’s selection validates Magnum’s ability to provide a sustainable cost advantage for volume production test,” said Tim Moriarty, vice president of Teradyne. “We look forward to working closely with Hisem to help them achieve their business goals.”
Mr. K.D. Lee, Hisem’s chief technical officer, commented, “Nextest was a logical choice for our investment in high-volume memory test capacity. The Magnum tester has been successfully used by many of the companies in our marketplace and provides customers with the high-efficiency testing their businesses demand. We look forward to providing customers worldwide a reliable, high throughput, highly-economical solution for their NAND flash production test requirements.”
