Teradyne to Introduce New Test Heads at Broadband World Forum in Venice, Italy; New Measurement Units Feature Integrated Copper Loop and Services Testing

DEERFIELD, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 2004--Teradyne, Inc.'s (NYSE:TER) Broadband Test Division announced today participation at the International Engineering Consortium's Broadband World Forum being held in Venice, Italy, September 20-23, 2004. Teradyne will exhibit its flagship 4TEL and Celerity products for Voice and DSL Service Assurance, showcasing its new central office and remote terminal test head products featuring integrated DSL copper loop, services and IP testing. Two new products will be on display - the LDU 100 Loop Diagnostic Unit upgraded with DSL services testing capability and the LDU 50, a new ruggedized test head designed for fiber-fed remote terminal applications. These test heads incorporate industry-leading DSL services test technology, which when combined with Teradyne's best in class copper loop testing enables integrated, end-to-end (Layer 1 - 7) DSL test and dispatch analysis with the Celerity DSL Service Assurance application. These new measurement units enable advanced DSL fault segmentation and dispatch applications such as consumer self-test and maintenance testing for use by call center and field technicians. Teradyne will also participate in the Broadband World Forum's TecPreview Theater, an educational opportunity for show attendees. Mr. Frank Bauer, Director of Advanced Development at Teradyne, will give a presentation titled, Enabling Technologies for Consumer Self-Test. "Consumer-driven self-test for DSL service is becoming a strategic goal for service providers.
