Teradyne's VHDM L-Series connector is an open pin field version of VHDM and utilizes the same organizing stiffener, allowing designers to create custom connector configurations that achieve specific performance needs and cost down targets. Designers can co-locate any combination of VHDM, VHDM-HSD(TM), and VHDM L-Series on the same connector to accommodate a mix of high and low-speed connections. The VHDM L-Series connector is fully compatible with all VHDM components such as power and guidance modules.
"Speed and density are no longer the only criteria for system designers," said Rich Humphrey, VHDM L-Series project leader. "Today's concerns also focus on low-risk designs that can get next generation systems to market fast at a competitive cost. The VHDM L-Series connector is ideal for low-speed data lines and other sense and control functions. This makes VHDM L-Series the perfect compliment to the 1.25 Gb/s - 6.25 Gb/s capabilities of our VHDM and VHDM-HSD connectors."
The VHDM L-Series 8-Row connector offers 101 signals per linear inch; the 6-Row configuration offers 76 signals per linear inch. Daughtercard wafers are available in 5 column modules designed to mate with backplane modules in 10 and 25 column configurations. Backplane modules are available in open configurations or with optional polarizing and guidance.
Pricing and Availability
Teradyne's VHDM L-Series platform connector is priced at approximately $0.06 - $0.08 per mated signal line in full production volumes and will be available in June 2003.
