Teradyne, Molex Launch Joint Website for VHDM-HSD Connectors

NASHUA, N.H.--()--July 23, 2002--

Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) Connection Systems Division (TCS) and Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ:MOLX and MOLXA) today announced the launch of a website they have co-developed to give customers easy access to in-depth information about the VHDM-HSD(TM) family of connectors. Teradyne and Molex offer truly identical products, making possible the development of this informative one-stop web site. VHDM-HSD.com provides valuable assistance to designers who need a total interconnect solution for demanding system applications. Website visitors will find in-depth information on performance specifications, intermateability, and a part number cross-reference, along with product overviews and a Frequently Asked Questions section. The website address is www.vhdm-hsd.com.

Teradyne introduced VHDM-HSD, the high-speed differential version of its VHDM connector, in 1999 to meet the industry's need for a differentially routed connector with performance up to 5 Gbps. VHDM-HSD supports more signals, higher signal speed and flexibility in one complete 2.00 x 2.25mm system. VHDM-HSD is the most scalable connector available on the market today with a metal stiffener design that allows customers to configure signal wafers, power modules and guidance modules into a single connector.

To ensure availability of its connector products, Teradyne licensed Molex to manufacture several of Teradyne's connectors, including VHDM-HSD, VHDM, and HDM. Since 1996 the two companies have worked closely together to market products that are mechanically and electrically intermateable and interchangeable.

"With billions of pins installed and Molex as an identical second source, our VHDM and VHDM-HSD product families are the proven reliable choice," says Scott Miller, Teradyne's VHDM Product Manager. "Providing our customers with a one-stop web-based source for information further strengthens that promise of reliability with an added measure of convenience."

"This new website is intended to provide both Molex and Teradyne customers the kind of comprehensive and easily accessible design assistance they value," says Dave Root, President, Connector Products Division, Molex. "We are excited about this innovative design tool. Not only does it give our customers information on two independent sources for identical products that provide superior high speed solutions; it also furthers the strong relationship Molex has with Teradyne."
