Panel to Present Definitive Results from Trial Conducted on Over

1,000,000 Lines with Teradyne's DSL Test Product, Celerity(TM)

Teradyne Broadband Test Division, Inc., (NYSE:TER), a leading provider of broadband test capabilities, announced today that the Company will present field data from a trial of 1 million lines conducted with Teradyne's automated ADSL pre-qualification system, Celerity(TM), in conjunction with a major European carrier earlier this year. The panel presentation will take place during DSLcon Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark from October 30-November 2, 2000.

Roger Faulkner, technical specialist for Teradyne Broadband Test, will present the trial results with a representative from the major European carrier. Together, they will compare Celerity's results with current processes using manual and paper records. Detailed charts with trial data will show process improvement, subscriber revenue improvements and labor savings earned as a result of using automated testing.

Celerity quickly and accurately pre-qualifies millions of cooper loops remotely, detecting the presence and impact of local loop impediments on DSL service such as load coils and bridged taps. The technology is both scalable and adaptable to multiple DSL technologies. As a result, local exchange carriers can deploy DSL lines much faster, thereby increasing the total installation and service take-up rate and reducing overall provisioning costs.

In addition to providing an overview of the Celerity trial and information on the operational processes and procedures used, presenters will leave adequate time to field questions from attendees. Teradyne will host a booth where visitors can ask detailed questions and view a demonstration of Celerity, as well.
