Candidates for INDUSTRYWEEK'S 100 Best-Managed Companies were selected from the INDUSTRYWEEK 1000, a list of the world's largest publicly held manufacturing companies based on revenues. Waltham, Massachusetts-based Primark Corp. supplied the data for the IW 1000, which was published in June.
Each company was selected after a lengthy evaluation by the editors and panelists that included the following: analysis of the company's financial performance; a questionnaire that the IW 1000 company's were given an opportunity to complete; research into the company's practices in such areas as philanthropy and safety. A panel of more than 90 business leaders, analysts, and academicians then voted on the final selections.
"INDUSTRYWEEK'S 100 Best-Managed Companies are the world's leaders in innovative management strategies," says John Brandt, INDUSTRYWEEK'S publisher and editor-in-chief. "Their emphasis on long-term growth makes them models for every corporation."
"Teradyne is pleased to be included on this year's IndustryWeek list," stated Thomas B. Newman, Jr., vice president of corporate relations at Teradyne. "This selection by IndustryWeek is affirmation of the company's commitment to sound and innovative management."
