WAYNE, Pa.--()--MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, today announced that it has appointed Richard M. Haviland to the newly-created position of senior vice president of human resources. Haviland joins MEDecision on a permanent, full-time basis after having served in a similar capacity as a consultant since 2007. In his new role, Haviland acts as chief learning officer and is responsible for MEDecision’s organizational excellence and knowledge leadership, including continuous improvement, Six Sigma, and training and development initiatives.

Haviland brings to his new role more than 25 years of national and international experience in human resources, organizational development, strategic planning, training and continuous improvement. Previously, he was managing director of the human resources, organizational development, training and strategic planning practice for Growth Management Strategies LLC, a Philadelphia-based international consulting firm. Prior to that, he served as director of human resources, organizational development, training and quality systems education for the Advanced Materials Division of Johnson Matthey, PLC; and, earlier, as director of human resources, organizational development and training, USA and Canada, for Johnson Matthey, PLC.
Haviland also has served as an adjunct faculty member for Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business Management Development Department, where he designed and taught courses in leadership development, organizational change, organizational behavior and the basics of supervision for project managers.
Haviland earned a BA degree in History and Psychology from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania and an MA in Counseling with a concentration in Adult Development and Group Dynamics from the Palmer School of Eastern University. He holds eight industry certifications and was a member of the cross-functional team at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for the Study of Adult Development. He resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
