Peru Is Presenting Itself at FITUR 2022 as a Bio-safe Destination, Committed to Outdoor Experiences

MADRID--()--Peru is in attendance at the 42nd edition of FITUR 2022 to position itself as a safe and ready destination for international travellers, motivating them to rediscover the South American country, reported the Comisión de Promoción del Perú para la Exportación y el Turismo [Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission] (PROMPERÚ).

In line with its promotion and recovery strategy, Peru is presenting a delegation made up of 19 co-exhibitors in order to show off the best of its tourist offering in the nature, adventure and culture segments. Likewise, it announced its collaboration with the Asociación Española de Agencias de Incentivos – IdeMICE, in order to enhance the attributes of the destination in this segment.

In addition, the executive president of PROMPERÚ will play an active role in FITUR Woman, participating in the discussion: “Sharing public policies: Europe & America”.

Peru, a bio-safe destination

Peru is focusing its efforts at the fair on promoting the country as a bio-safe destination, presenting information related to biosafety protocols (Safe Travels Seal), as well as its varied tourism offering, with outdoor experiences and sustainable practices in the regions of: Amazonas, Áncash, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Madre de Dios and Loreto.

“For us it is very important to return to a fair with as much international relevance as FITUR, and show the world how we have adapted to new travel trends, focusing on sustainable tourism,” said Amora Carbajal, executive president of PROMPERÚ.

2021, a year of recognition

In 2021, Peru was awarded international prizes and recognition, such as three World Travel Awards in its global edition (leading culinary destination in the world 2021, leading cultural destination in the world 2021 and Machupicchu distinguished as leading tourist attraction in the world).

In addition to two World Cruise Awards (best river cruise destination in the world and best river cruise destination in Latin America); a total of nine tourist destinations included in the “Top 100 Sustainable Destinations List”; and the district and historic sanctuary of Machupicchu becoming the first wonder of the world and the first tourist destination to obtain Carbon Neutral Certification.
