WILMINGTON, Del.--()--Today, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware announced the beginning of a $500,000 advertising campaign to expose corruption at Delaware’s highest levels of law and business. The campaign will be anchored by a new TV ad, “Revolving Door,” which shows how top Delaware judges including former Chancery Court Chancellor Andre Bouchard and Vice Chancellor Stephen Lamb, as well as former Supreme Court Chief Justice Leo Strine Jr. transitioned immediately following their retirements to senior-level positions at elite corporate law firms.

The ad will first air on Thanksgiving, this Thursday, November 25th, during the prime-time NFL matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints in Delaware and across the Northeast. CPBD has also taken out a full-page ad in this Sunday’s Delaware News Journal and will run radio and digital ads to educate the public and shed further light on the backroom deals that taint Delaware’s judiciary.

Said Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Campaign Manager Chris Coffey, “This campaign sends the message that Delaware’s judges can no longer move in darkness between powerful judicial posts and well-heeled corporate law firms to cash in on their relationships with former colleagues on the bench. It’s time that Delaware update its outdated and ineffective anti-corruption laws so that the mutually beneficial musical chairs between top courts and top law firms comes to an end. And these so-called ‘public servants’ should spend less time looking for opportunities to pad their own wallets and more time trying to understand the people they’re meant to serve. Delaware deserves better, and we won’t stop our campaign to expose this corruption until Delawareans know what’s going on behind closed doors."

The full script of the ad is below:

What do you get when you retire from Delaware’s top courts?

You get paid... to work at the same corporate law firm you awarded $3.2 million dollars in a case which is still active.

Delaware’s weak corruption laws mean that powerful judges can jump immediately from the bench to elite corporate law firms and cash in on their influence

It’s time to shut the revolving door once and for all, end the Chancellor Bouchard-era corruption, and restore trust and integrity in Delaware’s courts.
