Braniff Airways Chairman Appointed to The University of Texas at Dallas Aviation Council Seat

DALLAS--()--Dallas-based Braniff Airways, Inc., dba Braniff International, announces that the company’s Chairman of the Board has been appointed to The University of Texas at Dallas History of Aviation Council. Chairman Richard Ben Cass brings nearly 50 years of service in the aviation and airline business as well as decades of curation of the official records and historical archives of Braniff Airways, Inc., to the coveted Council position.

Dean of Libraries, Ms. Ellen Safley, informed Mr. Cass of his appointment to the Council, which was set up to advise the University’s Special Collections and Archives Division of the Eugene McDermott Library. Ms. Safley noted that the Council meets annually on the UTDallas Campus located in Richardson, Texas. Since February 1982, the Public Relations Archives of Braniff Airways have been housed here.

Mr. Cass has worked closely with UTD concerning the curation of Braniff’s Public Relations Archives, which are still owned by Braniff Airways, since June 1982. Over the past 11 years he has completed a full research project of the entire Archive and is currently overseeing the digitization of the entire collection.
