InterSystems Announces HealthShare® CMS Solution Pack

Comprehensive solution package addresses Interoperability and Patient Access rule requirements that take effect January 1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, today announced the release of its HealthShare® CMS Solution Pack™ to help customers meet new government requirements that put patients in charge of their data.

The new rule from the United States Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), known as the Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (9115-F), aims to empower patients and improve interoperability while reducing the burden on payers and providers. It is slated to be rolled out starting in 2021.

The HealthShare CMS Solution Pack leverages the vast InterSystems expertise in interoperability and bundles together solutions that enable payers to share required claims, clinical, and pharmacy benefit data, regardless of its format, and transform it into FHIR 4.0.1 representations so that patients can easily access it. Providers will be better able to coordinate care through easy exchange of patient information and alerts as they transition between settings of care.

Based on the implementation guides referenced in the final CMS rules, the Solution Pack includes a FHIR 4 gateway, full support for the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) clinical data set, all relevant CMS implementation guides, and the required privacy and security standards.

For payers subject to the rule, the HealthShare CMS Solution Pack will provide a turnkey solution to support patient access and provider directory APIs next year, and payer-to-payer data exchange subsequently. For providers, InterSystems HealthShare CMS Solution Pack contains alerting capabilities hospitals must implement by next May.

“For years, Hixny has been able to rely on InterSystems as a key technology partner,” said John Bunnell, Director of Account Operations at Hixny. “They understand the CMS regulatory requirements that go into providing certified interoperability solutions for both patient and provider access to data. Their certified technology allows Hixny to provide its partners the ability to meet Promoting Interoperability requirements.”

“Payers, providers, and patients need reliable, clean, actionable data to achieve a high-value health system,” said Don Woodlock, Head of Healthcare Solutions at InterSystems. “The CMS Rules are a step in the right direction towards interoperability for all. With InterSystems HealthShare CMS Solution Pack, payers and providers can meet the new requirements to access critical health information, make sense of the constant influx of data, and empower their staff to put data in the hands of patients who want access to their data.”

The Solution Pack can be deployed either on premises or in the cloud.

InterSystems will share additional insights into how the HealthShare CMS Solution Pack will address the challenges associated with meeting the new federal guidelines and how they will impact patients, providers, and payers at this year’s InterSystems Virtual Summit October 20 – November 5.
