NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--O’Charley’s Restaurant + Bar, the classic American restaurant with locations across 17 states, has wrapped up the first round of its Hometown Heroes initiative and will expand the scope of this important giving back project through the summer.

Hometown Heroes was created to show appreciation for the men and women we depend on to keep us safe through their personal sacrifice. To say thank you, O’Charley’s began delivering free meals to local healthcare workers and first responders. In addition, O’Charley’s created a special 25 percent discount that continues today for healthcare workers and first responders.

Hometown Heroes officially launched the first week of April in Nashville, where O’Charley’s is headquartered. Since then, O’Charley’s team members have served thousands of free meals to healthcare workers and first responders in dozens of communities across the country, including Birmingham, Charlotte, Greensboro, Knoxville, Louisville and St. Louis.

“When the coronavirus began to have a serious impact across the country, we immediately decided that we needed to go above and beyond our normal community engagement to acknowledge those serving our communities,” Craig Barber, O’Charley’s CEO. “That was the genesis of Hometown Heroes. We wanted to say thank you to the people who were – and still are – fighting so hard and sacrificing to keep us all safe during this unprecedented time.”

“Hometown Heroes has been a great success to date by working closely with the communities we are blessed to serve every day,” Barber continued. “As we evolve Hometown Heroes over the summer, we will continue to rely on the many great relationships we have developed to maximize the benefit. This initiative was created to provide recognition and a small moment of relief for the people in our communities who continue to serve in spite of the personal risks from the virus. That mission will remain in place as we elevate Hometown Heroes into its next phase.”

As summer begins, O’Charley’s will continue its Hometown Heroes program while working to address other community needs beginning with a partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank to feed hungry children and families during the summer months. Additional efforts to highlight frontline workers, local volunteers and others will roll out over the course of the summer.

O’Charley’s stores are open for business, providing dine-in where allowed, as well as to-go, curbside and delivery options. Customers can order online at order.ocharleys.com and simply pull-up to the restaurant where their food will be brought to their car.
