MENLO PARK, Calif.--()--Before Brands, the inventor of SpoonfulOne™ and a science-based consumer products company dedicated to bringing innovative, proprietary nutritional products directly to families, announced today that is has appointed Gregory Shewchuk as Chief Executive Officer, effective December 4, 2019. He is replacing current CEO and co-founder, Dr. Ashley Dombkowski, who has become CEO of Alladapt Immunotherapeutics, a new company that is backed by Gurnet Point Capital, a private investment firm that invested in the creation of Before Brands.

Prior to joining Before Brands, Greg was Senior Vice President at Campbell Soup Company and led its $3.3 billion U.S. Retail business unit, which includes iconic brands such as Campbell’s Soup, Chunky, Well Yes!, Swanson, Prego, V8 Beverages, and Pace. Previously, Greg honed his pediatric expertise serving as Chief Marketing Officer at Mead Johnson Nutrition Company, where he transformed the business model to be digitally driven, and oversaw both the consumer and medical business units. Before that, Greg led Innovation for North American Snacks at Mondelez International and has held senior management roles at Cadbury plc, Diageo and Unilever. He earned his M.B.A. from Queen’s University and an Honors BSc. in Zoology from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

As CEO, he will lead all aspects of the SpoonfulOne business including the full commercial launch of products in the United States and the implementation of the company’s recently announced global partnership with Nestlé Health Science.

Greg has a deep appreciation for the significance of SpoonfulOne’s mission, over 25 years of executive management experience and a demonstrated history of driving top and bottom line results,” said Chris Viehbacher, the Managing Partner at Gurnet Point Capital and founding Board Member at Before Brands. “The company’s focus to date has been to develop SpoonfulOne to be the world’s most comprehensive line of food allergy protection products, based on proprietary science led by Dr. Kari Nadeau. We are now at a new inflection point where the efforts must shift to commercial execution. Greg deeply understands today’s consumers and has great expertise in general management, sales, digital marketing, e-commerce, new business models and innovation. He brings an ideal skill set to lead the team through this next stage and so we are all excited to have attracted an executive of his caliber to advance SpoonfulOne’s important work from here.”

I would also thank, on behalf of the Board and our investors, Dr. Dombkowski for her vision and leadership in creating Before Brands. Dr. Dombkowski will continue her passion for helping patients with food allergy as CEO of Alladapt, and I look forward to continuing to work with her there.”

Commenting, Gregory Shewchuk said: “The statistics on the growing number of children at risk for developing a food allergy are staggering. So I am honored and energized to lead a company with such an extraordinary mission. SpoonfulOne has a very clear purpose: to help protect children from developing a food allergy and to allow their systems to grow up accustomed to a diverse range of foods. It is exceedingly rare to find a consumer product with the opportunity to reduce the risk of such a prominent and burdensome disease from developing by up to 80%. This proposition will be life-changing for so many families and I have a deep respect for the incredible work that has been done so far. I look forward to working closely with the exceptional team, the Board, and Nestlé Health Science to fully realize the potential of the SpoonfulOne platform and help healthy families stay that way.”

About Before Brands, Inc.

Before Brands is the inventor of SpoonfulOne™, a line of pediatric nutritional products made to reduce the risk that healthy babies will develop a food allergy. SpoonfulOne offers a range of products, all of which include a complete set of the proteins from the foods associated with more than 90% of food allergies around the world. All products are designed in single-serve, convenient formats staged to grow with your baby starting from around 4-6 months of age and continuing consistently through early childhood. The company is based in Menlo Park, CA and has been backed since inception by Gurnet Point Capital along with a consortium of families from the food allergy community.
