LOS ANGELES--()--Los Angeles’ number one morning shows for radio and televisioniHeartMedia Los Angeles’ KOST 103.5 FM’s The Ellen K Morning Show, syndicated nationally on 30 stations, and KTLA Morning News – will help kick off the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) fourth annual fundraising campaign by broadcasting live from the hospital on Giving Tuesday, an international day of charitable giving taking place on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

On Tuesday, December 3, both KOST 103.5 FM and KTLA will dedicate their respective morning programming to Giving Tuesday and highlight the world-class pediatric medical care that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides.

KOST 103.5’s on-air personality Ellen K and KTLA Morning News anchor Megan Henderson will speak with patient families, hospital leaders and other special guests throughout the morning and will encourage their respective audiences to support the hospital and donate by texting CHLA to 51555 or 243725, or visiting kost1035.com/chla or CHLA.org/KTLA. Ellen K will broadcast from the hospital throughout the day, joining fellow KOST 103.5 on-air personalities Kari Steele and Mark Wallengren on their respective shows. iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ KFI AM 640 and 104.3 MYfm will also encourage their listeners to give back throughout the day.

“Giving Tuesday is one of my favorite days of the year because there is so much positive energy in the air with people eager to give back,” says Children’s Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Paul S. Viviano. “We are so thankful to have our friends at KOST 103.5 FM and KTLA join us in spreading goodwill and inspiring our wonderful community to help us support our mission of creating hope and healthier futures for our patients.”

“Ever since CHLA took such great care of my son years ago, they have become like family to me and my KOST 103.5 family,” said Ellen K. “There’s no place we would rather be on Giving Tuesday. We are honored to have the opportunity to talk with the wonderful doctors, nurses and patient families and help spread the word about this amazing hospital, which is a jewel of our city.”

“I knew CHLA was a special place from the moment I walked through its doors years ago as a volunteer,” said Megan Henderson. “Every time I come back, I’m even more impressed and more inspired by the incredible care CHLA provides.”

Kicking off on Giving Tuesday, CHLA’s year-end fundraising campaign is a month-long appeal to the community to donate funds that will directly support the pediatric medical care CHLA provides. CHLA is the primary safety net hospital for all families in need of highly specialized pediatric care. Donations to the campaign through the end of the year will ensure that every patient treated at CHLA receives the critical, lifesaving care they need.

Throughout the day CBS Television Studios and The Paul and Erika White Family Foundation will generously match donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000 and $10,000 respectively, for those who complete their donation by texting CHLA to 51555 or 243725, or visiting kost1035.com/chla or CHLA.org/KTLA. Super Woman Super Lawyer Maryam Parman and Alfred Coffee are also generous sponsors of the day’s broadcast. From November 26 through December 3, individuals who buy a tea or coffee drink will get to cast a vote for KOST. Alfred Coffee will donate $1 for every vote with the results announced on KOST 103.5 on Giving Tuesday. Alfred Coffee is located in Studio City, Brentwood, Silverlake, Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Koreatown and two locations on Melrose Place.

For every $27 donation made on Giving Tuesday, a child in the hospital will receive a signed copy of television personality Jimmy Kimmel’s new children’s book, The Serious Goose, which will be released on Dec. 3. Proceeds from book sales will also benefit CHLA.

In addition, from Dec. 2 – 6, Porto’s Bakery and Café will donate a portion of sales from their famous cheese rolls sold at all five locations – Glendale, Burbank, West Covina, Downey and Buena Park.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is one of the top pediatric academic medical and research institutions in the United States and relies on the generosity of community support. Each and every gift to CHLA helps the hospital provide care to patients from not only the Los Angeles area, but from all 50 states and from more than 25 countries around the world.
