The 33rd Shrine Bowl Canada: A Testimony That Despite Their Physical Limitations Our Patients Strive to Remain Active!

33rd Edition of Shrine Bowl Canada

MONTREAL--()--The 33rd edition of Shrine Bowl Canada will take place on Saturday, September 7 at 2 p.m. at Concordia Stadium located at the 7200 Sherbrooke Street West in Montreal.

This year, the game will see the Concordia Stingers face off against the Laval Rouge et Or. The public is invited to attend this annual charity event and support the Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Canada.

Glen Constantin, head coach of the Laval Rouge et Or and Brad Collinson, head coach of the Concordia Stingers, are ready for the big game. The Honorary Chairman of the event will be Paul Chesser, former star football player who represented the Stingers in five Shrine Bowls between 1989 and 1993. Paul Chesser wrapped up his stellar university football career with several awards including being named the outstanding lineman in the country. He then went onto a successful career in fundraising spanning more than 20 years across universities in Eastern Ontario and in Quebec.

In addition, one of our most talented patients, Ariana Ianniciello, will kick-off the event by performing the national anthem.

The Shrine Bowl King and Queen

Two patients from Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada, Stiliana, 9 years old, and Ulrik, 11 years old, have been crowned Queen and King of Shrine Bowl Canada 2019.

Stiliana was born missing her right hand, but this has never stopped her from doing any of the things she loves. She also has scoliosis and wears a night brace like a warrior. She never complains! Her family is so grateful for the Shriners Hospital for Children – Canada that has been taking care of her since she was born. Stiliana loves to dance. She has been figure skating since she was four years old and takes piano and vocal lessons. She also loves basketball and going on vacation with her family! However, music is her number one thing.

Ulrik was amputated of his right arm. He has been playing football for two years now and he is a Peewee. His positions in football are offensive and defensive line. In 2018, during our final football match, his team played against Jaguars, and he caught the ball from the kickoff! He may not have done a touchdown, but, for him, it was such a great accomplishment! He also loves swimming, exercising and now biking. He is also very creative. He loves to draw, paint and make his own comic books. Most of all he enjoys creating from his own ideas.
