NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Indegy, a leader in industrial cyber security, today announced the City of Raleigh has been named an honoree in the prestigious 2019 CSO50 Awards from IDG's CSO. The annual CSO50 awards recognize a select group of organizations for security projects that have demonstrated outstanding business value and thought leadership. The City of Raleigh was selected for implementing the Indegy Industrial Cyber Security Suite to protect its operational technology (OT) network and industrial control systems (ICS) from cyber threats, insider attacks and human error.
The City of Raleigh will be honored at a special awards dinner on April 10 during the CSO50 Conference + Awards at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. A full list of the CSO50 Award honorees is posted online at: https://bit.ly/2za5PCv.
“We are honored that our project was recognized with a CSO50 Award. Raleigh is one of the fastest growing regions in the country, so ensuring the availability and safety of our water supply and other utilities is a constantly evolving challenge,” said Steve Worley, SCADA Security Manager for the City of Raleigh. “We chose the Indegy platform for its unique ability to monitor, proactively detect and alert our staff to any changes made to our industrial control systems that could impact their integrity and proper operation.”
The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department is committed to building a safer, more secure and more resilient critical infrastructure for its constituency. The City partnered with Indegy to implement a state of the art industrial security solution that provides visibility, protection and control to detect and prevent threats before they can impact the operation and safety of its water supply systems and utilities. They required a solution that would grow and adapt to their dynamic needs -- which now include providing potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services to the City and to the communities of Garner, Knightdale, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon.
“Municipal water supplies represent one of the nation’s most critical infrastructures, yet visibility and control into the security of the industrial systems used to operate them is often sorely lacking or non existent,” said Barak Perelman, CEO of Indegy. “The City of Raleigh is being honored with this CSO50 award for its leadership and innovation in protecting its water supply and other utilities from external and internal threats. Steve Worley and his team are blazing a new trail for critical infrastructure protection that other water and public utilities can follow using technology from Indegy. ”
Using Indegy, the City’s small staff is now able to centrally monitor all activity occurring in water and utility infrastructures right down to configuration and software changes made on individual industrial control devices. Alerts are automatically generated when suspicious, unexpected or policy violations occur. Indegy also provides auditing capabilities for internal changes so devices can be restored to a known good state in the event of an incident.
“This year’s class of CSO50 award winners raise the bar on security innovation,” said Amy Bennett, executive editor, CSO. “While delivering business value and demonstrating thought leadership are the metrics on which they are measured, the greater value is in the peer-to-peer sharing of ideas across a range of industries, across company sizes, for-profit and not-for-profit, public and private. The magic really happens on the stage at the CSO50 conference when these projects are brought to life in presentations and panel discussions. It is an honor to give them the recognition they deserve.”
