Matt Schreiber ’03 Named 2018 Young Alumnus of the Year by USC

RED BANK, N.J.--()--Matt Schreiber, ’03 Bachelor of Arts in History, ’04 Master of Teaching, and President and Chief Investment Strategist of WBI Investments, Inc., has been named Outstanding Young Alumnus of 2018 by his alma mater, the University of South Carolina. Each year, the University’s Alumni Association selects one “graduate under 40 who represent the breadth and scope of new talent, has achieved extraordinary success in a chosen profession and has significantly set themselves apart from their peers.”

The University honors alumni across four categories this year in addition to the Young Alumnus Award. For a full list of recipients, please click here. Recipients will be honored during the Gamecock Homecoming and at the Carolina’s Best Forum and Luncheon, Friday, Oct. 26.

Schreiber earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of South Carolina in 2003, followed by his master’s in education in 2004. After shaping young minds as a high school teacher in Sumter, South Carolina, Schreiber joined WBI, a leading provider of institutional and private client wealth management solutions, as a Sales Associate. Schreiber raised over $500 million in assets for WBI and remains the largest single sales producer in firm history.

Today, Schreiber serves dual roles at WBI: President, where he is responsible for the oversight of the firm’s business operations, and Chief Investment Strategist, overseeing market and economic analysis, portfolio strategy, and product design and development. His areas of expertise include investment product design, distribution, and sales.

In 2014, Schreiber was essential to WBI’s headline-making debut of 10 actively managed exchange-traded funds, followed by an industry record $1 billion in assets on the first day of trading. Today, WBI offers a suite of 11 active ETFs and one smart beta ETF and has been nominated for several awards including Fund Intelligence Active ETF of the Year and Social Media Leader of the Year 2018, WealthManagement.com Social Media Leader of the Year 2018, and WealthManagement.com Outstanding Contribution for Separate Account Asset Managers 2015. In 2017, Schreiber and his team launched a weekly market commentary podcast series called Bull | Bear Radio for investors and financial advisors, available on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, TuneIn, and SoundCloud.

Outside of the business world, Schreiber is passionate about giving back to the community. A former member of University of South Carolina’s track and field team and a former teacher, he supports the university and its students through donations and funds an endowed scholarship to support track athletes. Schreiber contributes annually to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital through the Schreiber Family Trust. The Schreiber family are also the biggest benefactors for the Kortney Rose Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood brain cancer. Schreiber also spearheads the WBI Gives Back philanthropic program which supports local, nonprofit community organizations, in-kind services, and volunteer service through initiatives that focus on hunger, children and the armed forces. In 2016, Schreiber was named as a Humanitarian of the Year by Fulfill (formerly The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties) for his contribution of leadership to WBI’s giving efforts to local families in need.
