Code42 Honors Top Data Security and Recovery Programs

Baylor University, Burns & McDonnell, Entrust Datacard, Flow International, among organizations recognized for excellence in information security innovation

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Code42, a leading provider of information security solutions, announced the winners of the third annual Evolutionary Awards. Against a backdrop of rising cyber threats, Code42 recognized ten organizations for their extraordinary innovation in data security and recovery. Recipients of the awards included industry leaders Baylor University, Burns & McDonnell, Entrust Datacard Corporation and Flow International Corporation, among others.

The annual awards recognize organizations for excellence in the development, deployment and adoption of applications in data recovery and security. Award winners represented a wide range of industries, including retail, technology, education and security.

“The stakes have never been higher for companies to keep their ideas and data safe. The Evolutionary Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate excellence in their progressive approach to data security,” said Joe Payne, president and CEO of Code42. “We are thrilled to honor their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the 2018 winners.”

Winners were selected across ten categories, including the Breakthrough Award, Guardian Award, Master Award and more:

  • Baylor University won the Freshest Refresh Award for its campaign to make tech refresh more efficient. When Windows system upgrades every 18 months caused IT bottlenecks, the nationally ranked research university successfully expanded its use of an endpoint backup solution to accelerate and support more upgrades with the same staffing levels. “Without the solution, the constant churn of device migrations was a tremendous drain on IT productivity,” said Mike Gonzales, assistant director at Baylor University. “We already use the platform for endpoint backup and legal hold, so it was a natural fit to extend our use to streamline our device migration workflow.”
  • Information Security Specialist Jason Monteleone and IT Asset Management Technician Mitch McCain of Burns & McDonnell, a full-service engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting solutions firm, won the Evangelist Award. This recognition honors individuals who are tireless advocates for endpoint backup. The IT team constantly seeks out opportunities to share their knowledge with peers and started a grassroots effort for data protection “lunch and learns” in their city. “We are honored to receive the Evangelist award and be recognized as advocates and educators for Code42,” said Jason Monteleone.
  • Entrust Datacard won the Guardian Award for effective and creative mitigation of threats to protect valuable data. Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions, was an early adopter of an innovative new security product. The company utilized advanced search and analytics to quickly identify large volumes of high-risk data movement and immediately escalated it to their incident response team. “Through one holistic view, the solution gives us near real-time visibility to where data lives and moves across all endpoints,” said Mark Ruchie, Entrust Datacard’s vice president and chief information security officer and Code42’s Security Advisory Board member. “We sped up our time-to-response for a wide range of cyber threats. It’s a game changer for security professionals.”
  • Flow International won the Master Award for its continuous pursuit of technical information, education and best practices in order to protect its intellectual property. Flow International, the leader in waterjet and abrasive waterjet systems, works closely with its technology partners to stay on the cutting edge of data security. “Our data security needs have expanded significantly in recent years due to acquisitions,” said Jeff Zuniga, senior IT operations manager at Flow International. “It’s important to our business that the data security programs we deploy make it easy to protect our intellectual property portfolio as it grows.”
