First Data Named #1 Employer for Veterans and Military Spouses by Military Times

2018 Marks the Second Year First Data Received the Top Spot on the List

NEW YORK--()--First Data (NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling technology, was recognized as the #1 company for the second year in a row on the Military Times annual “Best for Vets: Employers” 2018 list. First Data debuted on the Military Times list in 2015 at #18 and took the top spot in 2017. Military Times bases its annual rankings on veteran employee onboarding processes, company training, Guard and Reserve member policies, and military spouse support.

“Veterans have unique skills and experiences that are forged through years of service to their country,” said Frank Bisignano, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, First Data. “We all have the opportunity to leverage the assets the military community brings throughout our organizations, along main streets, in board rooms, and throughout supply chains. This commitment is what drove us to create First Data Salutes, and continues to inspire us to further expand and enhance our military community programming.”

“Competition was tougher than ever in our 2018 Best for Vets Employers rankings, with a record number of companies participating,” said George Altman, the Military Times editor in charge of the rankings. “Finishing at the very top of the rankings is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates First Data’s efforts to recruit and support veterans, service members and military families.”

First Data’s veteran initiative is centralized under First Data Salutes, an enterprise-wide approach that includes recruiting and hiring veterans and military spouses, as well as supporting veteran entrepreneurs. First Data is dedicated to supporting vets beyond the initial hire, and recently launched its Military Affiliated Analyst Program, which offers veterans and military spouses an opportunity to start and grow their careers within the organization.

In addition, First Data has strengthened its support of Guard and Reserve members via its Commander’s Intent declaration, which commits to going above and beyond the legal standards to improve the reintegration of service members returning from extended military service. The company additionally enables military spouses to transfer their role to another First Data office location in the event of a military move, and provides specialized onboarding for military-affiliated employees. Military-affiliated entrepreneurs also may qualify for First Data’s Veterans Business Offer, which provides discounted solutions as well as free processing on Independence Day and Veterans Day for qualifying business owners.
