CPS HR Consulting Awards $2,500 Scholarship to Aspiring Human Resources Student

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--CPS HR Consulting recently awarded Howard University student Ashley Graves with the Walter Vaughn Excellence in Human Resources Scholarship in partnership with the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA). The $2,500 scholarship was designed to promote and encourage advancement in the practice of human resource management and to develop strategic leaders who are pursuing studies in the field.

“We’re excited the scholarship was awarded to a student who has shown the deepest dedication and commitment to her education,” said Jerry Greenwell, CEO, CPS HR Consulting. “Ashley’s notable list of accomplishments and her desire to focus on diversity and inclusion set her apart as an aspiring professional.”

Graves is a junior at Howard University majoring in business administration with a focus on diversity and inclusion in human resources. She has been accepted into the Capital One HR Leadership Summit and Jumpstart Advisory’s UGrad Forum, and will be completing her second human resources internship with Dominion Energy this summer. In school, Graves is a member of the business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the School of Business Executive Leadership Honors Program. She has also served as a member of the 21CAP tutorial staff, the Professional Activities Committee and the Consulting Club, and as director of the Academic Excellence Committee.

Eligible scholarship applicants had to:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in public administration, human resources or a related field
  • Be involved in extra-curricular activities (excluding athletics)
  • Have excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities, and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Have at least one full-time semester remaining after May 2018 and be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester

The scholarship recognition ceremony took place April 19th at NFBPA’s FORUM 2018 conference in Cleveland.
