University of Washington Selects Blast Motion to Enhance NCAA Division I Softball Program

CARLSBAD, Calif.--()--Blast Motion, an information company that provides motion analysis and performance insights, today announced that the University of Washington will integrate the Blast Softball sensor, mobile app, and cloud services into their NCAA Division I Pac-12 softball program. By utilizing the Blast Connect cloud services platform, UW will establish advanced player performance baselines, compare hitting trends over time, and conduct training sessions with real-time feedback, giving coaches the information they need to help their athletes improve. Advanced swing information will be used for immediate player development, long-term analytic insights, and recruiting baselines throughout the travel softball circuit.

“We are proud to partner with Blast Motion and are excited to get into the data and metrics their system can produce,” said Heather Tarr, Head Coach at the University of Washington. “We are in the business of making data driven decisions for our student athletes and our program. We are always looking for the best information. What Blast, Lincoln Martin, and collegiate teams using this technology are going to do for the game of softball is cutting edge. We are excited to continue our growth as a program using great information that can drive our decisions toward continuous improvement.”

After receiving a preseason ranking of #4 overall, the University of Washington is off to an impressive 2018 season. The Huskies have dominated the USA Today / NFCA Division I Top 25 poll, ranking #1 in the country for five consecutive weeks. UW currently holds a 29-2 record with a cumulative team batting average of .351.

“UW has one of the best programs in the country and their adoption of Blast technology is fantastic news for softball,” said Lincoln Martin, Top Tier Sports Athletics, Owner and Professional Player Development Coach. “Heather Tarr and staff are forward thinking and very innovative. They are constantly working to help their players improve and this technology is the future of how players will be evaluated and recruited. With Blast, it’s exciting to see what’s next.”

Blast data and metrics have become the industry benchmark for swing evaluation and has been validated by The Center for Human Performance for accuracy and consistency. In additional to Major Division I softball programs like UW, the adoption of Blast Technology expands to NPF teams, several collegiate programs, elite travel organizations, high schools, and academies. Coaches and players of all ages and skill levels use Blast to help drive and measure improvement through objective swing data, video, 3D visualizations, advanced insights, and personalized performance reports.
