Inaugural WBR Insights Leadership Survey Finds Senior Executives Dedicated to Cultural Improvements

Greater Talent Enrichment and Breaking Down Silos Top 2018 Commitments

NEW YORK--()--Over 59% of senior executives view breaking down interdepartmental silos within their organizations as the biggest challenge for 2018, according to “Management Commitments for 2018”, a newly released research report conducted by WBR Insights, the custom research and content marketing division of Worldwide Business Research (WBR).

The report offers a glimpse into the minds of 82 senior level executives from across WBR’s event portfolio (including retail, healthcare, telecoms and finance) to discern their key motivators, their perception of top level employees, and the barriers that exist to innovation within their organizations in the year ahead.

One of the challenges to breaking down those silos is the ‘knowledge gap’ that exists between legacy and new employees. As a result, over 51% of these senior leaders are implementing a greater frequency of internal training sessions and instituting more formal mentorship programs (48%).

“Organizations are taking a more holistic view towards improving the cultural needs of their employee base, investing more in attracting and retaining their top talent,” said Dave Matthews, Managing Director, WBR Insights. “This survey is the first of many research initiatives that we will launch in the coming year to provide senior executives with the necessary market intelligence and guidance to successfully navigate these challenges and identify new opportunities for institutional and revenue growth.”

Additional findings of the survey include:

  • The top traits that senior executives identified in their best performers: Entrepreneurship (60%) followed by Trust and Respect (60%), and being a team player (55%).
  • Remote work capabilities (63%) and flexible work hours (56%) are the key incentives the majority of respondents are using to attract top talent, followed closely by performance based bonuses (52%).
  • Autonomy and career advancement (41% and 30%, respectively) were overwhelmingly cited as the strongest drivers for job satisfaction, dwarfing salary (11%) and benefits (2%).
  • Over 59% of respondents feel that AI and machine learning will have a strong impact on their business in the next five years. Only 6% (many at the director level and higher) felt it would have no impact at all.
