Bartek Czajka Joins Merrill Corporation’s Industry-leading IFRS XBRL Team

ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Merrill Corporation (www.merrillcorp.com), a leading provider of virtual data rooms and services for regulatory disclosure, announced that Bartek Czajka, an expert in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Taxonomy, has joined the company as Director of XBRL Consulting Services. The addition of Bartek to Merrill’s industry-leading XBRL team brings an unprecedented level of expertise in helping Merrill’s customers understand reporting requirements and provide guidance on the proper creation of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) for regulatory filings.

Bartek joins Merrill from the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the organisation responsible for issuing IFRS Standards. While at the IASB, he was responsible for the development of the IFRS Taxonomy, and for creating XBRL mappings of all new and amended IFRS standards. XBRL uses tags to identify each piece of financial data submitted in regulatory filings. Bartek also was involved in the IASB’s global outreach activities to promote the understanding and adoption of IFRS Standards and XBRL. Prior to joining the IASB, he worked for KPMG Poland.

Merrill’s IFRS XBRL service provides filers with an unparalleled level of understanding and confidence in their XBRL submissions. Merrill’s team consists of certified accountants with a unique blend of SEC rule experience, XBRL expertise, IFRS Taxonomy familiarity, and knowledge of IFRS disclosures. In addition, Merrill provides filers with Merrill Bridge, its SaaS platform, which transforms the productivity of the financial reporting process and allows customers to do the XBRL activities they are comfortable with in-house, while tapping into Merrill’s XBRL team for the rest. Merrill Bridge was one of the first to be awarded the XBRL Certified Software status from XBRL International. “No one knows the IFRS Taxonomy better than Bartek,” said Hilary London, Merrill’s General Manager, EMEA. “He has an exceedingly deep and unique understanding of these accounting standards, and what is expected of businesses. He joins Merrill at an important time for IFRS Foreign Private Issuers, who are required to file their SEC financial statements using XBRL for financial periods ending on or after December 15, 2017. Merrill’s service is unmatched in the industry, and the addition of Bartek reaffirms our commitment to helping companies prepare their XBRL filings the right way.”

Bartek said, “Merrill has been committed to IFRS XBRL for many years, having been an active member of the IFRS Foundation’s taxonomy advisory groups. It’s a privilege to work with this highly experienced, talented and industry-leading XBRL team.”
