ST. LOUIS--()--Safety National awarded the annual Safety First Grant to three policyholders for their creative risk control solutions.

The first-place grant, in the amount of $10,000, was awarded to Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs to purchase garbage can assistive lifting devices to alleviate injuries due to heavy lifting while emptying garbage cans into dumpsters.

The second-place grant, in the amount of $5,000, was awarded to Capital Region Educational Service District 113 Workers’ Compensation Trust to install commercial kitchen electric can openers, eliminating potential ergonomic occupational injuries from repetitive can opening.

The third-place grant, in the amount of $2,500, was awarded to Montana Association of Counties Workers’ Compensation Trust to install a vehicle collision avoidance system to reduce the frequency and severity of employee motor vehicle accidents.

“We applaud the winners for finding ways to create a safer, more productive work environment for their employees,” said David Snodgrass, Vice President – Risk Services & Product Development at Safety National. “One of the criteria that we use to select our winners is repeatability, so we hope that other employers with similar risks can benefit from these solutions.”
