Adobe Sign Certified Compliant with SAFE-BioPharma Standard

TENAFLY, N.J.--()--Adobe Sign, the leading e-signature solution that allows anyone to sign and send documents, is now certified compliant with the global SAFE-BioPharma® digital signature standard. Major biopharmaceutical companies that are members of SAFE-BioPharma Association rely on products and services compliant with the standard for critical functions such as applying secure digital signatures to electronic laboratory notebooks, regulatory submissions, clinical trial documents and routine day-to-day business documents.

Adobe Sign, part of Adobe Document Cloud, streamlines the flow of documents and tasks across entire teams with mobile, customizable and easy-to-use solutions. Among other functions, the product integrates with existing systems, processes and applications, allowing users to convert paper to digital with a smartphone scan, and route documents for collaboration or certified electronic delivery.

More than 6 billion electronic and digital signature transactions are processed through Adobe Document Cloud every year.

The SAFE-BioPharma standard describes requirements for standardized identity trust for either authentication (the process that proves the user's identity to the computer system) or for digital signing (the strongest form of electronic signature in existence). The standard was introduced in 2005 and is used by many of the world's largest biopharmaceutical companies. It requires individuals to whom identity credentials are issued to undergo a process, creating a close bond between the credential and the user's proven identity. This process and other requirements provide high assurance of the individual's identity, allowing the credential to be used for a multitude of purposes, including applying legally binding, non-repudiable digital signatures to electronic documents.

"We congratulate Adobe for the time, effort and expense dedicated to certification of Adobe Sign. Certification provides the level of confidence the Association's members seek in implementing SAFE-BioPharma solutions," said Dr. Peter Alterman, Chief Operating Officer, SAFE-BioPharma Association.

Adobe and SAFE-BioPharma have a longstanding relationship. The standard is on the Adobe Approved Trust List, which assures that any person with a SAFE-BioPharma identity credential will be able to sign a PDF document in Adobe® Acrobat® or Reader®, that will be automatically trusted globally by any other user of Adobe Acrobat or Reader.
