Comcast Ventures Hires Gil Beyda as Managing Director and Promotes Daniel Gulati to Partner

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Comcast Ventures, Comcast Corporation’s venture capital affiliate, announced it has hired Gil Beyda as Managing Director and has promoted Daniel Gulati to Partner.

For the past nine years, Beyda has been successfully investing in B2B startups as Managing Partner of Genacast Ventures, a seed-stage fund formed in conjunction with Comcast Ventures. His investments include Demdex, acquired by Adobe, Divide, acquired by Google, and DoubleVerify, acquired by Providence Equity. In his new role as Managing Director at Comcast Ventures, he gains the ability to invest in later-stage companies while continuing to run Genacast.

Prior to Genacast Ventures, Beyda served as the CTO of Tacoda, the first behavioral targeting ad network, and founded Real Media, a pioneer in Internet advertising. He launched his first company, Mind Games, in 1982, to develop games for the original Apple II.

“Building Genacast with Comcast Ventures has been a great experience. I’ve enjoyed our collaboration and come to really appreciate the advantages of the Comcast NBCUniversal platform,” said Gil Beyda. “Joining the Comcast Ventures team gives me the flexibility to work with them across their portfolio and is the best of both worlds.”

Amy Banse, Managing Director and Head of Funds at Comcast Ventures said, “Gil is an extraordinary investor and a wonderful colleague. We’ve learned a lot from him over the past nine years, value his partnership, and are thrilled to have him join us as a Managing Director.”

Gulati, who today is being promoted to Partner, joined Comcast Ventures in 2014 to focus on early stage investing. He relocated to San Francisco last year and has led investments in a number of fast-growing companies including Away, a direct-to-consumer travel brand and MealPal, a subscription meal service.

Prior to working at Comcast Ventures, Gulati served as a consultant for Boston Consulting Group. He was the co-founder and CEO of FashionStake, a marketplace for independent fashion designers, acquired by Fab.com in early 2012. He launched Fab.com’s fashion division and grew it into their top performing vertical. He has worked in e-commerce as a founder, operator and investor for nearly 10 years.

“In a short amount of time, Daniel has proven himself to be a talented investor with a knack for identifying great entrepreneurs and investing in world-changing companies,” said Amy Banse. “We are proud to have him as part of the team and look forward to supporting his growing portfolio.”
