NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Morningside Translations, the fastest growing major language service provider in North America, today announced new leadership and ownership by co-CEOs Tom Klein and Roland Lessard. The company also disclosed that it has recently emerged as a Top 10 language service provider in North America.
Klein and Lessard, veterans of content management and technology-enabled business services, most recently held senior executive leadership positions at employment background check leader Sterling Talent Solutions. The two executives closely partnered in leading multiple functions such as business & product development, corporate development, and operations as Sterling grew exponentially into the largest background screening company in the world.
“We are thrilled to join the language services industry,” said Klein. “We spent the last year immersed in this sector and were impressed by its professionalization and how it increasingly resembles other technology-enabled business services. The translation industry is at a pivot point; it’s maturing and with that comes an evolution in customer needs and the product life cycle.”
Morningside Translations, founded in 2000, specializes in patent, life sciences, and legal translations into more than 150 languages. The company is headquartered in New York with global offices in San Francisco, London, Hamburg and Jerusalem.
“The explosion of digital content and mobile and internet access means many of our clients are expanding their reach to new audiences with new services in new formats,” explained Lessard. “And for some organizations, translation and localization are brand new concepts. Either way, the global audience is expanding and expects that content is presented in their native tongue.”
Morningside has posted remarkable growth over the last decade and has reached $41 million in annual revenue – placing it among the top ten LSPs in North America. Klein and Lessard, who assumed their new roles in May of this year, plan to increase the company’s reach more than tenfold.
“Our business service background paired with Morningside’s deep subject matter expertise, quality-driven approach, and longstanding client relationships made us confident that this was the right company to take to the next level,” said Klein.
As one of the largest intellectual property translation companies in the world, Morningside has long helped clients tackle some of their most high-stakes and nuanced translation needs. The company in recent years has significantly expanded into other highly technical needs of its customers including legal, life sciences, compliance, training and e-learning, and regulatory affairs. As a result, Klein and Lessard are increasing investment in industry-leading technology, expanding the company’s global presence, and hiring additional specialized staff.
“We’re plowing new resources constantly into the client experience,” says Klein. “That’s what this is all about. Companies and organizations are starting to weave translations more centrally into their workflow. We need to think more holistically about their language needs.”
Klein and Lessard have expanded the executive ranks of Morningside through multiple hires and most recently recruited long-time language services thought-leader Eric Munz, formerly of Lionbridge, to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.
Lessard explains that their goals go beyond simply providing industry-leading translation services. “We want to help companies improve communication, break down cultural barriers, and bridge the gap between businesses and consumers around the globe. This is about more than just translating – it’s about bringing people together.”
