International House Institute Participating in the EU-GCC High-End Fashion Conference

KUWAIT CITY--()--Ms. Karima Al-Zahem, Director of International House Institute - Kuwait (IHI), announced today that the institute participated in a hugely successful fashion event at the Radisson Blu Hotel - Kuwait City on 11 October 2017 on EU-GCC Collaboration, design innovation and sustainability.

Research shows, that Muslim consumers spend an estimated $230 billion on clothing. That figure is projected to grow to $327 billion by 2019, surpassing the current combined clothing markets of the UK ($107 billion), Germany ($99 billion) and India ($96 billion). However, the GCC is not only an export market. With the right institutional support, the GCC has a great potential to become a fashion exporter to the rest of the world. Therefore, the high-end fashion conference in Kuwait offers a great opportunity for companies, buyers, designers, influencers and organizations to share experience and knowledge that will develop further cooperation between the EU and the GCC within the fashion industry.

The EU-GCC Trade and Business Cooperation Facility is a three-year project, financed by the European Commission with the aim at strengthening trade, investment and business cooperation between the EU and the GCC through business networks, mutual understanding and dialogue. The project is managed by the leading EU and GCC private sector organizations that represent a member-ship base of over 2.5 million firms: Federation of GCC Chambers, BUSINESSEUROPE, the Confederation of Danish Industry.

“The GCC region has great potential within the fashion design industry and this high-end fashion conference will highlight regional upcoming designers and entrepreneurs because they are crucial to develop the local fashion industry. Strengthening this sector that employs many women and young people, can furthermore be a solution to some of the challenges like unemployment and economic diversification in the region,” Ms. Karima Al-Zahem said.

The International House Institute is a prestigious training center situated in a major commercial district and the leaders in fashion design training in Kuwait. IHI provide a wide variety of professional training courses for clients as art, business, computer and language courses.

The conference gathers fashion industry stakeholders from the EU and GCC to discuss industry collaborations and business opportunities between Europe and the Gulf countries. Other interesting panels include discussions on innovation and sustainability in fashion as well as how social media may empower young entrepreneurs and ensure the future of the fashion industry.
