SAIC Awarded Contract by USDA Farm Service Agency for Conservation Programs

Company to provide end-to-end web application development and maintenance services in support of the Conservation Reserve Program

RESTON, Va.--()--The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded Science Applications International Corp (NYSE: SAIC) a task order to provide the Farm Service Agency (FSA) with end-to-end web application development and maintenance services in support of the Conservation Reserve Program and other FSA-administered conservation-related programs.

The single-award task order has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract award value of approximately $43 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Kansas City, Missouri.

“SAIC is proud to have been selected to continue to provide USDA FSA with support services that help to facilitate critical environmental programs,” said Bob Genter, SAIC senior vice president of the Federal Civilian Customer Group. “For more than 30 years, the Conservation Reserve Program and other conservation-related programs have contributed to water quality improvement, reduced soil erosion, and increased habitat for endangered and threatened species. We look forward to helping USDA FSA continue this legacy.”

USDA FSA oversees a number of voluntary conservation-related programs. These programs work to address a variety of farming and ranching related conservation issues including drinking water protection, reducing soil erosion, wildlife habitat preservation, preservation and restoration of forests and wetlands, and aiding farmers whose farms are damaged by natural disasters.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide USDA FSA with requirements activities, systems development, production support and maintenance, Application Assessment and Authorization, and Disaster Recovery support services to enable the configuration, enrollment, payment, and maintenance of FSA-administered conservation-related programs. These programs include the Conservation Reserve Program, Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, Emergency Conservation Program, Emergency Forestry Restoration Program, Farmable Wetlands Program, and the Grassland Reserve Program.
