Capella University Appoints New Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Capella University announces Dr. Constance St. Germain as the new vice president of Academic Affairs/chief academic officer. St. Germain is an experienced executive with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry as well as an attorney and former military member.

“Dr. St. Germain is an excellent fit,” said Dr. Dick Senese, Capella University president. “She brings two decades of experience in higher education, law, relationship-building and strategy development. Plus, she has a strong background in regional and programmatic accreditation, and the use of data-driven analytics in decision making, which will make her an integral part of our academic team as we continue to provide the most direct path for our students.”

St. Germain will play a central role in engaging with external stakeholders, policymakers, regulators and senior colleagues at other institutions, and assist in internal strategic alignment to help bring an even greater focus on Capella’s academic model.

St. Germain previously has served as executive dean for the College of Humanities & Sciences at the University of Phoenix and as vice president and dean at American Public University System’s School of Public Service & Health. St. Germain is a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a major in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. She holds an EdD in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University, a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and a BA in History from George Mason University.
