Kryptowire and Qualcomm Awarded $1.8M by DHS to Demonstrate a Hardware-Anchored Security Solution that Validates Third-Party Applications and Services

Companies will demonstrate Qualcomm Technologies’ hardware-anchored Mission-Critical-Grade Security Layer that leverages the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Mobile Security Platform and extends its foundational commercial capabilities to Kryptowire’s military-grade mobile application security testing platform to address zero-day threats on commercial mobile devices.

FAIRFAX, Va.--()--Kryptowire, the mobile application security and privacy testing platform of choice for U.S. government agencies, is delighted to announce that the Qualcomm Cyber Security Solutions division of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, of San Diego, California, has been awarded $1.8M by the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) to demonstrate Qualcomm Technologies’ hardware-anchored Mission-Critical-Grade Security Layer (MCGSL) that leverages the Snapdragon Mobile Security Platform and extends its foundational commercial capabilities to Kryptowire’s military-grade mobile application security testing platform to address zero-day threats on commercial mobile devices.

Qualcomm Technologies’ MCGSL framework will be engineered to continuously validate and secure third-party apps and services, helping to protect their integrity on the mobile device. This approach is designed to offer broad coverage against a wide range of threats due to device utilization context, application behavioral profile information and user authentication information that can be used to reduce false-positive identification of security incidents and uncover previously unseen advanced persistent threats. The project is intended to demonstrate the potential for broad use across devices with Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Mobile Platforms.

“We are seeing increasingly intelligent actors crafting increasingly devious attacks that can cost enterprises millions of dollars in damages," said Angelos Stavrou, CEO of Kryptowire. "We are grateful for the opportunity to team up with Qualcomm Technologies to leverage Qualcomm Technologies’ hardware-anchored MCGSL framework that extends App Behaviors, User Authentication and Device Health capabilities from the Snapdragon Mobile Security Platform to Kryptowire’s mobile security technologies to counter these threats, and to ensure that internationally-recognized security requirements used for national security systems are implemented throughout the mobile ecosystem.”

“Qualcomm Cyber Security Solutions’ focus is to provide mission-critical wireless technology solutions and services to solve the Government’s hardest security challenges. We are excited to work with the DHS and with Kryptowire to extend Snapdragon Mobile Security Platform to help uncover previously unseen advanced mobile threats, and provide comprehensive protection to the mobile device,” said Kim Koro, SVP and Divisional President of QCSS, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
