Syncsort Ironstream® Transaction Tracing Provides Enhanced Visibility Into Business Services Spanning Mobile, Web and Mainframe Platforms

Innovative Solution Streams Critical Data about Cross-Platform Transactions into Splunk® Enterprise and Splunk® IT Service Intelligence, Enabling Organizations to Monitor and Improve IT Operations and Application Performance

PEARL RIVER, N.Y.--()--Syncsort, a global leader in data liberation, integrity and integration solutions for next-generation analytics, today announced a new addition to its innovative portfolio of Big Iron to Big Data solutions, Ironstream® Transaction Tracing. The new solution enables IT staff with minimal mainframe knowledge to get deep insight into how web-based and mobile transactions impact the mainframe, with enhanced granularity that enables them to quickly identify and solve service problems and improve customer satisfaction.

“Many organizations have large-scale business services in which critical transactions originate on tablets, phones and websites to connect with back-end applications hosted on the mainframe. IT must monitor overall response times to spot critical problems, but has poor visibility into what’s happening to them on the mainframe,” said David Hodgson, Chief Product Officer, Syncsort. “With Ironstream Transaction Tracing, they get complete visibility into the end-user’s response experience, including a detailed breakdown of transaction time spent and resources consumed on the mainframe, using leading platforms for operational analytics like Splunk® Enterprise and Splunk® IT Service Intelligence (ITSI). This allows enterprises to proactively improve service levels.”

Ironstream Transaction Tracing leverages Ironstream’s ability to deliver machine data in real time to the Splunk platform without mainframe expertise. It is a lightweight tool that’s easy to install, with a minimal footprint and low overhead. This makes it ideal for enterprise IT organizations who need to correlate transactions initiated on mobile and web platforms with detailed z/OS backend transaction processing information to improve problem identification and better manage SLAs.

Highlights of Ironstream Transaction Tracing include:

  • Expanding Visibility into the Total End-user Experience: Tracks transactions initiated on and off the mainframe – including mobile and web platforms – and feeds data in real time to Splunk Enterprise to take advantage of its advanced analytics and visualization.
  • Providing Deeper Visibility into Mainframe Impact: Provides critical information on overall transaction response time, with the ability to drill down into transaction details including time spent and resources consumed on CICS and Db2 on z/OS.
  • Supporting Business Service Management Initiatives: Enables transaction problem isolation and resolution for long-running transactions to meet SLAs, improving application performance and end-user experience.
  • Support for Splunk ITSI: Allows Splunk ITSI users to drill-down to see added detail for transactions that hit key mainframe resources and proactively respond to slow growing problems within CICS and Db2 that might impact business-critical SLAs.

Ironstream Transaction Tracing will be available in Q4 2017. To learn more about the new Ironstream product, visit our booth #T1 and listen to Syncsort CEO, Josh Rogers’ appearance on theCUBE at .conf2017: The 8th Annual Splunk Conference in Washington, D.C.
