LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Center for Digital Government (CDG) announced the state of Arkansas has won third place in the Government Experience Awards. After 20 years of the Best of the Web Awards, the CDG updated the competition this year to recognize the achievements and best practices of states, cities, and counties that have gone to the web and beyond to radically improve the experience of government and push the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered.
Arkansas’s digital government experience encompasses more than 850 services delivered to citizens through responsive Arkansas.gov, the new beta.arkansas.gov featuring the state’s first customer service chatbot, and Gov2Go—the internationally acclaimed citizen-centric digital government assistant that started in Arkansas. Together, this cross-channel approach presents citizens with a single view of Arkansas government that is accessible from any device.

The state’s digital government experience is developed through a public-private partnership between the Information Network of Arkansas board, the Arkansas Information Consortium (a subsidiary of NIC), and more than 300 state and local government organizations—all at no cost to the state. Arkansas’s enterprise digital government presence has resulted in process automation efficiencies for both government and citizens, and enabled the state to realize a cost avoidance of more than $64 million each year.
The CDG has consistently recognized Arkansas as one of the best digital government states in the country for more than a decade, placing third in 2009 and 2014, second in 2010, first in 2011 and 2015 in its Best of the Web competition, and now third in 2017 in the Government Experience Awards. Arkansas was not eligible to compete in 2012 and 2016, the two years following first place wins.
In addition to the 2017 Government Experience Award, the state has also won several accolades this year for its Gov2Go platform, which allows citizens to receive personalized, timely and relevant notifications designed to help streamline their interactions with government. The Department of Finance & Administration was recognized for its use of Gov2Go to deliver vehicle registration renewals with two Excellence in Government Partnership awards from the Association of American Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). Arkansas Secretary of State received the 2017 IDEAS award from the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) for delivering voting information and franchise tax filing through the platform. The state also received a 2017 Digital Edge 50 award for Gov2Go.
