MEDIA ALERT: Maryland Heights Happy Hour to Raise Spirits & Funds for Children with Life Threatening Illnesses

Ex-St. Louis Blues Bobby Plager to Attend Fundraiser

--()--World Wide Technology:

WHAT:

St. Louis-based World Wide Technology is sponsoring a fundraiser for the non-profit foundation, Baking Memories 4 Kids, to host a private happy hour to raise money to send children with life threatening and terminal illnesses and their families on an all-expense paid vacation to all theme parks in Orlando, Florida.

This fundraising event will benefit families in need and surprise one local family with an all-expenses paid vacation to Orlando.

Media must RSVP to attend.

SPECIAL GUEST:

Bobby Plager, formerly a player of the St. Louis Blues and current sports analyst for KMOX.

WHY:

Baking Memories 4 Kids helps to create amazing memories for families in need. One such family is the Oler family of St. Louis. The Oler family’s four-year-old daughter, Arie, was born with Congenital Cytomeglovirus (CMV) which resulted in the most severe form of Cerebral Palsy. After being born, Arie’s CT Scan determined she had mild-to-severe brain damage. During the first three years of Arie’s life, her family spent more than 50 nights at the hospital treating various illnesses and complications brought on by her weakened immune system. Arie is not able to sit, walk or talk on her own and her family acts as her arms, legs and voice at all times. Despite these challenges, Arie is a smart, loving and witty child who lights up a room when she enters it and her teachers say she runs the classroom.

Arie spends 10 hours a week on physical, occupational and speech therapy in addition to her regular doctor’s appointments. In between school, her therapy schedule and other medial routines, it’s challenging for Arie to spend time playing with her siblings and friends as a typical child would. For this reason, her parents would like to give Arie and her siblings a week away from the realities of therapy, doctor’s appointments and physical restrictions with a visit to all the Orlando theme parks and a stay at Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit resort specifically designed for children with special needs that Baking Memories 4 Kids partners with for lodging and meals while on the trip.

Arie’s father, Alex Oler, is an employee at World Wide Technology.
