SALT LAKE CITY--()--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that William (Bill) Prince, a partner in the Firm’s Regulatory Affairs Group and Co-chair of its Mining & Natural Resources Industry Group, has been elected by the Trustees Council to be the next president-elect of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (RMMLF).

Mr. Prince’s induction as 2017-2018 Vice President of the RMMLF was announced during the annual institute on July 20-22, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He will start his term as President of the RMMLF at the conclusion of the 2018 annual meeting. Mr. Prince has been a member of the RMMLF for over 30 years and has served both as a trustee and on the board of directors.

Founded in 1955, the RMMLF is a collaborative educational non-profit organization dedicated to the scholarly and practical study of the law and regulations relating to mining, oil and gas, water, public lands, energy, environmental protection and other related areas. The Foundation currently enjoys an active membership of over 4,000 individuals representing law firms, oil and gas and mining companies, government agencies, and educational institutions principally from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America.

“It is a great honor personally to be chosen for this leadership position. My election reflects highly on how far Dorsey has come in the natural resources field since I joined the Firm 20 years ago to open its Salt Lake office,” said Dorsey & Whitney Partner William Prince. “Serving as Vice President, and then as the next President, I look forward to advancing the Foundation’s mission of bringing together lawyers, landmen, managers, government personnel, law faculty, students and others involved with the management, development, regulation and study of minerals, oil and gas, water, and other resources.”

Mr. Prince’s practice includes domestic and cross-border mining transactions, legal due diligence, natural resources-related environmental and permitting matters, development and use rights for public, indigenous and state lands, and natural resources litigation and administrative proceedings.

“We are extremely pleased that Bill has been named the next president-elect of the RMMLF,” said Dorsey & Whitney Managing Partner Ken Cutler. “It is wonderful that Bill has been recognized for his expertise and being at the top of his profession in a field that is one of Dorsey’s focus industries.”
