Time Inc.’s FORTUNE and UNC Announce First Online Certificate Programs for Executives

With the Flexibility of Online Learning, Executives Can Learn Wherever They Are in the World

NEW YORK--()--The first FORTUNE│UNC online certificate programs for executives have been announced by the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School and FORTUNE, a Time Inc. (NYSE:TIME) brand.

“Leading With Purpose,” which begins Oct. 2, 2017, and “Most Powerful Women,” which will launch in 2018, are the first of five certificate programs offered by FORTUNE│UNC.

Taught by UNC Kenan-Flagler professors, the programs are designed for both executive and emerging leaders who need the flexibility of online education to develop their knowledge and skills that they can apply at work and in their careers. Program content is produced in collaboration with UNC-TV, Public Media North Carolina. It contains exclusive access to FORTUNE’s interviews and conversations with C-suite executives and business luminaries.

“We’ve seen the power of online learning for working professionals in our degree programs,” said Brad Staats, a professor at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “Now we are innovating in the executive education arena, and it’s exciting to incorporate FORTUNE interviews and content to bring in the insights of business leaders and FORTUNE 500 CEOs on topics we are discussing in the courses and show the practical applications.”

“FORTUNE is always looking for innovative ways to engage with business leaders, which is why we’re thrilled to be working with UNC Kenan-Flagler on a certificate program for executives,” said Alan Murray, Chief Content Officer of Time Inc. and President of FORTUNE. “Our video interviews with the world’s leading CEOs will provide a unique opportunity for those enrolled in these programs to learn from the masters.”

“Leading With Purpose” courses include:

  • Developing Your Leadership Style
  • Leading and Embracing Organizational Change
  • Leading With Analytics
  • Innovation: Discovery to Application
  • Corporate and Business Strategy: Managing Scope and Competitive Advantage

Using an online learning management system, participants will access coursework for individual study and engage with classmates and professors in face-to-face collaborative discussions via webcam in an interactive online classroom.

Executives who successfully complete the programs—three courses from a set of five—will receive a certificate. Those who complete an executive-level certificate will join the FORTUNE│UNC network, which will provide exclusive access to an online community of leadership peers and an invitation-only annual conference.

The registration deadline for “Leading With Purpose” is Sept. 25, 2017.
