WEBSTER, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Star Cinema Grill, the popular dine-in theater group is growing yet again. On Friday the company launched a brand new concept called District Theatres aiming to recapture the traditional movie going experience and revitalize it with a chef-driven café style menu.
The first District Theatres location is in Webster, TX, in the space that was previously occupied by the original Star Cinema Grill at 1020 W NASA Parkway.
“The original Star Cinema Grill in Webster was part of a vibrant community for a long time, and we are thrilled to go back there to launch our new brand, District Theatres,” says Vice President of Development Jason Ostrow. “Everything from the old theater has been reimagined and remodeled from top to bottom with a modern industrial style.”
Building on the success of its parent company, the pilot location will deliver a different style of movie theater experience, preserving classic theatre staples while also embracing new modern concepts. Rather than servers taking orders and delivering food and beverages to the seats, guests will arrive to the beautifully designed lobby where they can purchase tickets, concessions, or a braised beef short rib sandwich and a delicious, sweet and savory chicken and waffles.
“Our concession stand will function just like a typical theater, but there is nothing typical about the menu,” says Vice President of Operations John Walsh. “We took a fresh, local and responsible approach with our food menu, and committed to featuring Texas producers who are true masters of their craft, which resulted in a scratch menu designed by our corporate chef and culinary team.”
Guests will experience the same dedication to fresh and local ingredients at the bar which features local beer, craft cocktails, and an excellent selection of wines. Of the eighteen draft beers, eight are from right here in Houston and eleven from greater Texas. “Houston has many amazing producers, and we wanted to feature as many as possible,” says Neil Kustanbauter General Manager.
The dramatic renovations included a total overhaul of the entire facility along with the installation of plush, leather reclining chairs. That ultimate comfort is matched with the premium viewing experience from the Sony 4K digital projectors and the crystal clear Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound.
"More than a year ago, this vision started on a white board in our office, and has blossomed into something very special," Ostrow said. "From the food, to the atmosphere, to the wonderful staff and management team we have assembled, we couldn't be more proud and excited to share this new adventure with our friends and neighbors."
Star Cinema Grill and District Theatres will continue their expansion with several more locations in the coming months and year.
