Safe Systems Offers New White Paper: “Understanding the FFIEC’s CAT: How Your Institution Can Improve Its Cybersecurity Posture”

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--()--Safe Systems, a national provider of fully-compliant IT and security services for community banks and credit unions, has published a free white paper, “Understanding the FFIEC’s CAT: How Your Institution Can Improve Its Cybersecurity Posture,” which is now available for download on its website.

The white paper addresses two key parts of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s (FFIEC) Cybersecurity Assessment tool (CAT): Inherent Risk Profile and Cybersecurity Maturity, and breaks down these complex sections to provide community banks and credit unions with a better understanding of the tool. While some regulatory agencies have indicated that completion of the tool is not a requirement, many examiners are using the tool to assess an institution’s cybersecurity readiness and have already begun to issue citations to financial institutions that have lapses or are not meeting expectations. Safe Systems’ white paper covers the information financial institutions need to know to more efficiently complete the CAT and maintain compliance with federal regulations.

“For many community banks and credit unions, the FFIEC’s CAT can be a very time consuming and cumbersome task to complete,” said Darren Bridges, president of Safe Systems. ”In an effort to help community financial institutions better understand their risks, our white paper helps them identify the different types of risks they face; understand where they fall in terms of risk severity; and determine where they need to be to develop a strong, compliant cybersecurity program.”
