BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Prometric, a trusted provider of market-leading test development and delivery solutions and the creator of the DSST® prior-learning assessment program, announced that the American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) completed its review of 13 revised DSST exams and approved each of them for three college credits.
ACE annually reviews DSST prior-learning exam content to ensure that it reflects current course curriculums, is aligned with passing grade requirements, and provides value to students pursuing degrees in higher education. In the revision of the exams, Prometric involved 130 subject matter experts, in which 98 had master- and doctorate-level degrees. This ensured that the 13 DSST exams fulfilled ACE requirements in the upper or lower division Baccalaureate degree category.
The DSST credit-by-exam program is a cost-effective, time-saving way that both civilian and military students can use the knowledge that they have acquired outside the classroom to accomplish their educational and professional goals.
Last year, approximately 53,000 students took a DSST exam, with more than 70 percent funded by the military. Tens of thousands of Americans each year save an average of $670 per class by completing nationally accredited DSST examinations that are accepted by more than 1,900 institutions nationwide. More than 30 DSST exams are offered in a diverse range of subject areas including: social sciences, math, applied technology, business, physical sciences and humanities.
DSST exams allow students to:
- Earn credit for previously learned knowledge;
- Advance their careers and/or continue their education;
- Use educational assistance money to pay for advanced-level courses; and
- Graduate sooner.
