The Great Courses Plus: Top 10 Courses Focus on America’s Beginnings

May’s “What America Is Learning” chart searches for answers both large and small

CHANTILLY, Va.--()--Premier lifelong learning provider The Great Courses Plus released its latest “What America Is Learning” chart dominated by five lectures from the Smithsonian co-produced course America’s Founding Fathers, the most-watched course currently on the streaming platform. The other half of the top spots include a new primer on playing guitar and the popular “Cognitive Behavioral Foundations” guide on how to change your own behavior.

The Great Courses Plus, through its multi-year partnership with the Smithsonian Institution, has together created a series of engaging courses from the latter’s collections housed across 19 museums and nine research centers in Washington, D.C. Additional background on these and hundreds of additional courses available from the subscription-based streaming service can be found at www.thegreatcoursesplus.com and www.thegreatcoursesdaily.com.

“This month’s ‘What America Is Learning’ Top 10 demonstrates a desire to better understand today’s political climate through a reflection of the country’s legislative roots and other key developments in its early history,” said Paul Suijk, president and CEO of The Great Courses. “The chart reflects our customers seeking both practical and existential knowledge on a wide variety of subjects including history, psychology, music and physics.”

Debuting at number two, Professor Colin McAllister’s “Guitar Basics: Play a Song in 60 Seconds” has become an instant hit. Another new chart entry in fifth place, Dr. Don Lincoln’s “Two Prototype Theories of Everything” physics lecture explores seemingly contradictory explanations for all reality. Two lectures with a new take on early Christianity from a widely-published expert on Gnosticism round out the Top 10.
