Great Harvest Bread Co. Set for Global Franchise Push at 2017 International Franchise Expo

Bakery-Cafe to Showcase Popular ‘Hub and Spoke’ Franchise Model at Country’s Largest Franchise Show

NEW YORK--()--Growing to nearly 200 locations across the United States thanks to multi-unit franchise partnerships and a new, innovative “hub and spoke” franchise model, Great Harvest Bread Co. will be exhibiting at the 2017 International Franchise Expo this June to help with its national and now worldwide opportunity.

In 2017 alone, Great Harvest has signed 30 new café locations with its existing franchise owners thanks to the new model and are set to have an additional 45 new units open over the next year and a half – including international and overseas locations in Guam, Saipan and the United Arab Emirates.

The International Franchise Expo (IFE), taking place June 15-17 at The Javits Center in New York City, is the industry’s one-stop franchise event attracting thousands of prospects from all over the United States and more than 120 countries around the world. Great Harvest executives will be on hand to speak with prospects who are looking to expand in the Northeast United States, as well as internationally, at Booth No. 226.

“Our one of a kind franchise model has set our company and franchisees up for sustained success,” said Great Harvest CEO Mike Ferretti. “Our existing franchisees are latching on to the new concept already, which is a testament to our tremendous owners, quality products and national growth plans, and we are signing deals left and right to saturate markets throughout the United States and now internationally. Soon, the little bakery that started in a quiet Montana town will be a common site virtually everywhere.”

Under the new hub and spoke franchise opportunity, franchisees can purchase individual 50,000 population territories that allow for a single Great Harvest bakery café hub operation and as many café-only units as they desire in surrounding towns. The bakery café hub locations would be equipped with ovens and ample space to produce and deliver the hand-milled breads to the nearby café-only locations throughout the day

The model allows Great Harvest owners to cost effectively and efficiently cover a territory, and place smaller size café units in higher traffic in town locations while baking in larger space units where real estate costs are lower. Both hubs and spokes seat between 35-40 people and range from 1,700 to 2,800 square feet.

With the new model set, Great Harvest is on target to meet its annual projections, will have more than 200 locations open by the end of the year and is next setting its eyes on major metros like New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Buffalo.

Dubbed “Bread Heaven” by its fanatic customers since 1976, Great Harvest Bread bakeries make their bread from whole grains milled right on the premise from wheat berry shipped directly from the Golden Triangle in Montana. The company also offers breakfast, sandwiches, healthier dinners and desserts throughout all three dayparts – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals include sandwiches with fresh meats and vegetables, biscuits, scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fresh breads, soups, salads and grain bowls.
