Texas Online Preparatory School to Hold In-Person Graduation Ceremony

Statewide Virtual School to Celebrate Class of 2017 on June 8 in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Texas--()--Texas Online Preparatory School (TOPS), an accredited, full-time online public school, will hold an in-person graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 8, at 5 p.m. at Huntsville High School.

Seventy-one students will graduate from TOPS, a college preparatory school that provides advanced learners in grades 3-12 across the state with a rigorous education. To attend, students must have met a minimum passing standard on the previous year’s STAAR scores, have had 90 percent attendance during the prior school year, show proof of Texas public school enrollment and (for high school students) be on track to graduate.

The school offers a robust Advanced Learner Program, honors and AP® courses and dual credit opportunities, where qualifying students also have the ability to participate in dual enrollment options in college courses tuition free.

Evan Hanks is the valedictorian of the Class of 2017, while Noelle Mansilla is the salutatorian. Dr. Howell Wright, superintendent of the Huntsville Independent School District, will deliver remarks, and TOPS teachers and staff will be in attendance to recognize the students’ achievements.

“The Class of 2017 has worked hard to get to this day,” said Tina Littell, interim head of school at Texas Online Preparatory School. “This is a group of truly exceptional students, and I look forward to seeing the exciting things they do next.”

Members of the Class of 2017 report that they have been accepted to colleges and universities across the country, including the University of Texas, University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, Abilene Christian University, University of Texas-Dallas, Texas State University, University of Colorado, University of Arizona, University of Alabama, Southern Methodist University, Academy of Art University, University of Texas-Arlington, Concordia University, Champlain College, Lawrence University, Illinois Tech, Texas Tech, Angelo State University, Colby Sawyer College and University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, among others.
