CPM Hits Cloud Tipping Point with Usability Now Emerging as Key Differentiator Nucleus Research Value Matrix Finds

Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Host Analytics, IBM, Infor, Oracle and Vena Solutions lead in the latest Value Matrix

BOSTON--()--Nucleus Research has released its latest Technology Value Matrix for Corporate Performance Management (CPM), finding usability as well as integration with other core business software as the driving factors in CPM development. With all major vendors now offering cloud solutions, the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model is now the norm for CPM and no longer a differentiator. Expect all future development to be centered on cloud CPM.

Leading vendors in the latest Value Matrix include Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Host Analytics, IBM, Infor, Oracle and Vena Solutions.

“The focus on usability has led to a divide into two different types of CPM products: Those that are tightly integrated with Excel and those that try to reimagine CPM through different interfaces. Customers have different functionality needs to varying degrees, but that’s all irrelevant if users don’t want to use the product,” said Joe Mathias, analyst at Nucleus Research.

Nucleus has evaluated new trends in CPM (defined as CPM 2.0), identifying embedded analytics, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and more flexible deployment options as key solutions. As with many other enterprise applications, integration has become a top focus for differentiation where CPM solutions can become more of a hub, managing certain data pipelines.
