MIDDLETOWN, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Embrace Home Loans, a prominent leader in the mortgage industry, is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event on Saturday, June 10. As a team, “Embracing the Cure” has participated for the last seven years working to raise more than $70,000 to help the American Cancer Society in their lifesaving mission. This year’s event will be held at Gaudet Middle School at 1113 Aquidneck Ave. in Middletown, R.I.
“Embracing the Cure” is led by Embrace senior vendor management coordinator, Kerry Seibert. To help increase donations, Seibert’s team has utilized Embrace Home Loans’ Wear for CareTM program, an initiative in which funds are raised by allowing employees to wear jeans for a day, provided they make a donation. Donated funds help support “Embracing the Cure” and their Relay for Life fundraising goal. In addition, Seibert’s team created and sold calendars to employees, local businesses and friends throughout the community.
“Participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event has been a passion of mine ever since I lost both of my parents to cancer,” said Seibert. “But I also love helping others and paying it forward, which is something Embrace Home Loans has encouraged me to do. I try to instill that in my team and those around me. I feel honored to be able to join people around the world to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remembering those that we’ve lost and supporting the American Cancer Society mission.”
The money raised through Relay for Life events helps support the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving and celebrating lives. Donations are used to fund life-saving cancer research, patient support programs, prevention information and education and detection and treatment programs. The American Cancer Society has funded researchers involved in virtually every cancer breakthrough, including mammography to screen for breast cancer, the Pap smear to test for cervical cancer, the link between smoking and lung cancer and more recently the link between obesity and a higher risk for the disease.
Embrace Home Loans also created Embrace Cares, a program that allows local branches to support causes they care about, including the opportunity to work face-to-face with people in the community who need it the most. Embrace Home Loans has been recognized as the Most Community Involved Company in Rhode Island by Providence Business News, and has raised thousands of dollars through their tradition of giving and dedication to helping others.
