BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Goodwin, a global 50 law firm, today announced the recipients of its 1L Diversity Fellowship Program and the opening of the application process for the firm’s new 2L Diversity Fellowship Program. The full list of 1L recipients is available here. Guidelines and forms for 2L applications – which are due by August 18 – are available here.
“We are thrilled to announce this year’s 1L Diversity Fellowship recipients, who all demonstrate a significant commitment to public service so early on in their legal careers,” said Ken Gordon, Goodwin’s National Hiring Partner. “We are also excited to launch the application process for the newly created 2L Diversity Fellowships, as part of Goodwin’s commitment to recruit, retain and advance diverse lawyers within our firm and within the legal industry.”
1L fellowships support first-year students from underrepresented backgrounds across the United States who demonstrate an interest in spending the summer working in public interest legal positions. In their summer roles, students gain trial preparation and litigation experience, handling issues such as the drafting of motions, discovery papers, and other court documents as well as attending depositions, trials and settlement conferences.
The new 2L fellowships provide second-year law students from underrepresented backgrounds with awards of $15,000 each, to help cover expenses for their third year of law school (2018-2019). The $15,000 award is contingent on the student’s accepting an offer to join Goodwin’s 2018 summer associate program and on accepting an offer, if extended, to join the firm as a full-time associate.
