Dorsey Adds Experienced Regulatory Attorney Ben Machlis in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY--()--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that M. Benjamin Machlis has joined the Firm’s Regulatory Affairs Group in Salt Lake City as a Partner.

Mr. Machlis’s practice focuses primarily on advising and counseling clients regarding natural resources and environmental compliance, rulemaking, permitting, administrative appeals, litigation and transactional matters. He helps clients navigate the complexity of state and federal environmental requirements to achieve their business objectives. He has extensive experience in matters involving state and federal regulations regarding solid and hazardous waste (RCRA), hazardous materials transportation (HMR), toxic chemicals (TSCA), water quality (CWA), community right-to-know laws (EPCRA) and remediation of contaminated property (CERCLA).

Mr. Machlis joins Dorsey from Holland & Hart LLP. Before joining Holland & Hart in 2011, he was an associate at Holme Roberts & Owen and served as a Policy Advisor in the Utah State Governor’s Office of Public Land Policy Coordination.

Mr. Machlis has a B.A. degree from the University of Utah and a J.D. degree from the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Land, Resources and Environmental Law. He was recognized by Mountain States Super Lawyers® as a “Rising Star” in Environmental practice in 2014 through 2016 and by Utah Business Magazine as a Utah Legal Elite, Up and Coming lawyer in 2017. He has served as Young Professionals Committee Chairman (2016-2017) of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, as a member of the Board of Directors of Utah Open Lands and as an adjunct faculty member at the S.J. Quinney College of Law.
